Analysis of Chevron’s climate strategy ahead of the 2021 AGM

Global warming must be limited to 1.5°C to avoid the worst consequences of climate change.

That means that net global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions should be zero in 2050. This does not only impose a responsibility on corporations but also provides energy companies with a unique opportunity to lead and thrive in the energy transition.

Chevron is at risk of falling behind. It fails to provide a long-term vision on how it will supply clean energy.

Therefore, shareholders ask Chevron to substantially reduce the GHG emissions of their energy products (Scope 3) in the medium- and long-term future.
